Getting Settled and Getting Seattled.

The Davie family is established and functional in Seattle Washington. The Emerald City.

We have been in Seattle for about three weeks now. Our house is completely unpacked and our schedules are being repacked. As we pursue the directions and guidance of Jesus we are overcome with joy and gladness in his blessings. I (Justin) have been blessed with a well paying job over summer. I get to work with youth around the city and help them gain work experience while giving life advice and group building. It is strange to be in a secular position and working with youth. My boss will often use Christian nomenclature such as: being fed, getting it, filling up, and feeling a burning within. While he says these things the group does not actually have any goals for the students. It is an empty well. This does not make me sad, but rather gives me opportunity to connect the students and employee's of this institution with Jesus. Elisha is completely saturated with homework. Her workload would be a lot easier if she agreed with her Christian Scriptures professor, but he is a very... liberal thinking teacher as far as scripture is concerned. She is kicking butt and getting A's, but not without hours of dedicated reading and work. It is a blessing that God has given me such a well paying position. Elisha can stay home when she isn't in class and doesn't have to worry about working. We have started regularly attending church at Mars Hill. It is refreshing to belong to a church that takes the Bible so seriously, and is bold enough to be offensive. The funny thing is that all the topics that are offensive are only offensive to completely jaded individuals. I have never heard such high regard for reconciliation, women, families, scripture, community, and genuine love. Well, Seattle is great and the only thing missing is the people we love back in California. We hope to see some of you really soon.

Elisha doing her homework. She is such a smart woman, and a fantastic wife. There is not a day that passes that I don't thank my God for her. This isn't too shabby of a place to do homework either.
This is some dork about to do laundry. Apparently he fit all his laundry in his panniers and on his bike, so he could ride down street two blocks to his special laundry facility. Sheeesh.

Josiah being tuff as nails. He has a big scab on his forehead. He got in a fight: his head against the sidewalk. I know his scab looks bad, but you should have seen the sidewalk afterwords.

Me looking all fresh and relaxing all cool in our front yard
Elisha Partying it up with our awesome neighbors!
Blurry Boston climbing his tree. Its hard to get a picture where he isn't moving around. He is definitely a compassionate and active boy.
Elisha working hard on her scary face. YOU LINT LICKER! - from Elisha to Bro Jacob.

Blessings,
The Davie family.

Happy Fathers Day to our awesome Dads.

A father has one of the greatest influences on a person. Our Father in heaven shows us how a father ought to behave. They must love, support, and protect their children. Elisha and I are lucky and blessed to have such great fathers. Our fathers love our heavenly Father and look to him for direction and support. We are very thankful for the fathers our Father has given us. We love you, to both our fathers.

Our life, adventures, and other things.

We are newly established in our new home. We have a very peaceful atmosphere surrounding our neighborhood. It is hard not to spend all day beside an open window with a book, or throwing oversized yoga balls at the boys. We went on the best double date of our lives last night and biked all over town... well all over the cool parts of town. The trip started with a breezy bike ride across the Fremont bridge. Then we rolled over to Ballard for some good eats, which was followed by the sunset at Golden Gardens. The last bit of our double date was spent on top of Gasworks park hill viewing the city. This is going to be a great couple years.

This is the fisherman statue in Fremont. Fremont is a super fun part of the city that feels almost like downtown San Diego.
Fremont has a bunch of fun silly things. This is a rocket that is part of a shop.
Elisha laughing on the Fremont bridge. The bridge is a drawbridge which is exciting to watch.
On our walk to Fremont to go to McMenemins. Which me and Elisha always mispronounce.
On the bike trail, there is always an amazing view.

Our new home in the Emerald City

We have finally arrived in Seattle after many months of eager expectation and preparation. Now after all this time we've moved in to our campus-side house. Our adventure here started early in the morning and carried on for two days. It was very fun and exciting: seeing t he pacific west from bottom to top. Our adventure took us through many beautiful places and cities. Eventually we arrived at our home in the district of Queen Anne. .

We got to spend some time hanging with our sweet friend the Bravenecs. We are super excited to be their next door neighbors. They are a huge blessing and breath of life for us.

Here is our house. Its actually a house... not a barn, which is different for us. We love it and all its little quarks.
We have a beautiful view of Queen Anne and the Wa-99 bridge from our dinning room nook. We live about two blocks from a channel where boats tug through. Its a huge blessing to live in such a beautiful place.
Here is a view of our Ikea decorated living room. It is equipped with a sofa-bed couch and a pair of chairs. Definitely designed for conversation and coffee.
We have a free standing bath tub. I've never seen such a cool tank of a tub. We may build a submarine to explore its depths. Its under family debate as of now.
Here is where the magic happens... The bedroom. By magic I mean card tricks. We were able to get a new mattress and bed. It is altogether a very comfortable set up.
These are two of the many gorgeous views of our trip up to the liberating north-west. We were only able to capture of few of these God made beauties on camera, but you can all enjoy the shnaz.

Hospitality met us as we pulled up. We had a welcome party, it was more like a parade. It was heart melting to feel the warmth of friends as we pulled up into our new home. We had no trouble getting acclimated to our neighborhood since our best buds live next door.

This was Elisha and myself at 4am the morning of our departure. We look less tired now.
Altogether the only thing this city and area is missing is the family and friends we had to leave behind in California. Luckily we have an extra room and some very friendly neighbors who know the meaning of hospitality, so our families can come and visit whenever they want.

I can almost taste it.

Elisha and I are sooo close to seattle that we can almost taste the steamed milk and hilltop ale house beer. Our home right now is a few boxes and a mattress on the floor. We have sold everything we own and are simply counting the days! I realize now how long its been since we've seen our friends the Bravenecs. Almost six months! Time flies when your on mission. Ready...Set...Go to seattle for school, community (Which does not in fact sacrifice Jesus), and a new start in a lot of ways. Pray for us that God would continue to pave the way for us, and give us and appetite for His Word so we can easily discern His designed will for our lives!

Oh the wait!

So as I take turns passing my hand from my coffee to my keyboard in this starbucks I feel anxious. Not necessarily stressed, angry, or in unrest, but simply not at home. I can see my schedule and bear all the events I am committed to. I enjoy going to work and teaching Student Venture, but I just don't feel home yet. I guess Elisha and I are just really excited about Seattle. I imagine what it will be like. We will be living by our best friends and going to a real school. Everything we need will be within a few blocks. We will embrace the space from everyone we know and grow together. Its a strange feeling when your looking forward to a new place like its a home you grew up in. I'm so excited to be heading in a direction. I know some would attribute my feelings to the "Grass is Greener" syndrome, but I don't really care about the grass' color, I care about the space between me and my neighbors. I think Seattle is going to have a little more yard in that department. New beginnings and a new home for Elisha and me. How great!

The Secrets of a Hidden God.

(Justin) I have recently learned that God loves to hide. He has a nack for sneaking away and disappearing right when you get a hold of him! This sounds insensitive and mean at first glance, but I have seen a little graceful glance at a bigger picture.
God is always available for us and always is with us, but he sometimes feels distant: sometimes our divine relationship takes more effort and care on our part. I was wondering why this was. I believe it is because God desires our growth, advancement, and above all his own glory shown in our seeking after him.
God loves to be sought after and wrestled with, he loves being the fullness of our affections. Sometimes we fall into a sort of lukewarm contentment and take him for granted, then he hides, we realize that we are not where he is and then we re-search for him. This is good for our growth and enjoyment of him! God knows how to keep the relationship spicy! He desires our secret prayers, our stolen moments of solitude, and the inner yearning of our hearts.
The kingdom of God truly is a treasure hidden, sometimes even after we purchase it we take it for granted or become lazy and the kingdom re-buries itself. It is such a joy to have a God who delights in us enough to teach us to always seek him. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

If you don't get what I mean by this then just forget you read it.
