Finally Getting Settled.

Moving to Seattle is exciting and fresh. We have already been here 5 months! The great news is we are starting to build our lives up here a little more everyday. Starting work, school, and most awesomely our community group. We are at Mars Hill Church, learning and growing. The day my mom and sister left, Justin and I were bummed and really missing home. So we decided to go to the 5 o'clock service when we usually go to the 11 AM service. So we get there and the message was on JOY. Having JOY. It couldn't have been more clear what God was teaching us. Then during the time we are supposed to meet and greet we turn around and met Jared and Sarah. They invited us for drinks and appetizers. We hit it off. We have been going to the community group ever since (the end of august). We have had a lot of fun times and are excited to keep making friends.

Our school has been a little discouraging in the theology department. TheDIScouragement is ENcouraging us to stay in the Word. Being here in Seattle, seeing what they teach in public schools and what our school is believing, it reminds me to take the bible and Jesus seriously. There are so many skewed beliefs. Rather than building up there students they seem to think little of those that have faith. We hope to be a light to this dark city. Even though we are not in full-time ministry we are still responsible for the flock given to us. Me and Justin are excited and thankful to be at a University, especially in beautiful Seattle. The colors of the leaves are changing and we are experiencing a "real fall". It is cold and crisp. It rained today, so refreshing.

This last week my (Elisha) mom and sister came up to visit for the weekend. It was a short but sweet visit. We explored the city and saw a lot of what me and Justin have not yet seen. We went down to Pike Place Market. My mom bought fish from the famous fish place and we cooked it up and it was DELICIOUS. It was so great to see my mom and sister in Seattle. They were able to see my house, where I work, and drink from the first Starbucks. The hardest thing was saying goodbye. I can't wait to see them again. Me and Justin loved seeing familiar faces. We miss our family and this visit helped with our homesickness.

Exploring the Emerald City

Two weeks ago we went out exploring on our bikes for our date night. We ended up in a new part of Fremont. We went to a place called Chocolatai, it was delicious! Their chocolate is amazing. Justin and I both got the Europa Hot Chocolate which is double the normal hot chocolate. I couldn't even finish mine it was so rich and chocolaty that we thought we were drinking from Willy Wonka's chocolate river. Then we headed out on our bikes to the canal to watch the boats go by, which is always so relaxing.

A week later we went down to the Sea Fair to see the Blue Angels. We had so much fun hanging out with Alison and her boys. We were looking for funnel cakes, but unfortunately they didn't have any! The air show is crazy they fly so close that I would close my eyes because I got so freaked. It is definitely a must see show, they fly right by each other and fly upside down on top of each other. It was pretty intense!

Sunday Funday!

We have been having a fun time in Seattle. I (Elisha) finished my first class at SPU. We haven't had too much time to go around and explore the city yet because I've been a little drenched with homework. So we went out to the Ballard locks to see the boats go by and then we explored a few things that the city is known for.

Justin got into SPU with a $6,000 merit scholarship (for his grades) which is really exciting and extremely helpful. He starts this fall which isn't until the end of September, and I get out of school August 27, so we will have a month to explore the city before we start school.

Last week we went Gooey duck hunting, it's kind of like looking for sand crabs but it is a

huge clam looking thing. We went with the Bravenec family and our new friend Brett, who goes

to SPU. We had a blast, it felt like we were back in Cali with the sand and sea shells all around,

except for the fact that there are pine trees all over, and snow capped mountains, and no waves in

the water. We are ready for another week here in Seattle and are super excited to continue exploring.

My mom and sister are planning to come up at the end of August, then my dad's coming up in

September, then Justin's parents are coming in October. We can't wait to see their lovely faces because

we miss them and want them to see our new home and school. We will be counting down the days!

Getting Settled and Getting Seattled.

The Davie family is established and functional in Seattle Washington. The Emerald City.

We have been in Seattle for about three weeks now. Our house is completely unpacked and our schedules are being repacked. As we pursue the directions and guidance of Jesus we are overcome with joy and gladness in his blessings. I (Justin) have been blessed with a well paying job over summer. I get to work with youth around the city and help them gain work experience while giving life advice and group building. It is strange to be in a secular position and working with youth. My boss will often use Christian nomenclature such as: being fed, getting it, filling up, and feeling a burning within. While he says these things the group does not actually have any goals for the students. It is an empty well. This does not make me sad, but rather gives me opportunity to connect the students and employee's of this institution with Jesus. Elisha is completely saturated with homework. Her workload would be a lot easier if she agreed with her Christian Scriptures professor, but he is a very... liberal thinking teacher as far as scripture is concerned. She is kicking butt and getting A's, but not without hours of dedicated reading and work. It is a blessing that God has given me such a well paying position. Elisha can stay home when she isn't in class and doesn't have to worry about working. We have started regularly attending church at Mars Hill. It is refreshing to belong to a church that takes the Bible so seriously, and is bold enough to be offensive. The funny thing is that all the topics that are offensive are only offensive to completely jaded individuals. I have never heard such high regard for reconciliation, women, families, scripture, community, and genuine love. Well, Seattle is great and the only thing missing is the people we love back in California. We hope to see some of you really soon.

Happy Fathers Day to our awesome Dads.

A father has one of the greatest influences on a person. Our Father in heaven shows us how a father ought to behave. They must love, support, and protect their children. Elisha and I are lucky and blessed to have such great fathers. Our fathers love our heavenly Father and look to him for direction and support. We are very thankful for the fathers our Father has given us. We love you, to both our fathers.

Our life, adventures, and other things.

We are newly established in our new home. We have a very peaceful atmosphere surrounding our neighborhood. It is hard not to spend all day beside an open window with a book, or throwing oversized yoga balls at the boys. We went on the best double date of our lives last night and biked all over town... well all over the cool parts of town. The trip started with a breezy bike ride across the Fremont bridge. Then we rolled over to Ballard for some good eats, which was followed by the sunset at Golden Gardens. The last bit of our double date was spent on top of Gasworks park hill viewing the city. This is going to be a great couple years.

Our new home in the Emerald City

We have finally arrived in Seattle after many months of eager expectation and preparation. Now after all this time we've moved in to our campus-side house. Our adventure here started early in the morning and carried on for two days. It was very fun and exciting: seeing t he pacific west from bottom to top. Our adventure took us through many beautiful places and cities. Eventually we arrived at our home in the district of Queen Anne. .

We got to spend some time hanging with our sweet friend the Bravenecs. We are super excited to be their next door neighbors. They are a huge blessing and breath of life for us.

Here is our house. Its actually a house... not a barn, which is different for us. We love it and all its little quarks.
We have a beautiful view of Queen Anne and the Wa-99 bridge from our dinning room nook. We live about two blocks from a channel where boats tug through. Its a huge blessing to live in such a beautiful place.
Here is a view of our Ikea decorated living room. It is equipped with a sofa-bed couch and a pair of chairs. Definitely designed for conversation and coffee.
We have a free standing bath tub. I've never seen such a cool tank of a tub. We may build a submarine to explore its depths. Its under family debate as of now.
Here is where the magic happens... The bedroom. By magic I mean card tricks. We were able to get a new mattress and bed. It is altogether a very comfortable set up.
These are two of the many gorgeous views of our trip up to the liberating north-west. We were only able to capture of few of these God made beauties on camera, but you can all enjoy the shnaz.

Hospitality met us as we pulled up. We had a welcome party, it was more like a parade. It was heart melting to feel the warmth of friends as we pulled up into our new home. We had no trouble getting acclimated to our neighborhood since our best buds live next door.


This was Elisha and myself at 4am the morning of our departure. We look less tired now.

Altogether the only thing this city and area is missing is the family and friends we had to leave behind in California. Luckily we have an extra room and some very friendly neighbors who know the meaning of hospitality, so our families can come and visit whenever they want.
